The Moment She Said Yes
There’s something extra special about being in on a secret, especially when it’s this good.
Back in mid-April, Greggory reached out to tell me he was planning to propose to his girlfriend, Ava. I squealed with happiness (no shame), because not only have I known these two for a while since we attend the same church, but I also had the joy of photographing Greggory’s family during their Christmas session. That was when I really got to meet Ava, and from that point on, I could tell they were something special.
Greggory wanted this moment to be absolutely perfect for her. So we got to work crafting a plan and finding the right location. He told me Ava loved mossy oak trees, the romantic, dreamy kind draped in Spanish moss. Those are rare around here, so after some research and a lot of location scouting, Greggory settled on the New Orleans Botanical Garden.
Can I just say how excited I was to shoot there? It’s absolutely stunning. Honestly, the perfect place to start a new journey together.
Once the date and location were locked in, Greggory started planning a full day of fun for Ava, with one very pleasant surprise scheduled for mid-afternoon. The weather tried to mess with us. The forecast said possible rain, but I told Greggory not to stress. We’d have a backup plan ready. Thankfully, the skies cleared, and we ended up with one of the most beautiful afternoons you could ask for.
Then came the moment.
Greggory texted me to say they were checking in at the front desk. One of Ava’s best friends was by my side, ready to witness it all. My amazing husband Garrett, shoutout to my ride or die, was there too, capturing everything on video.
They made their way to the agreed spot. Greggory dropped to one knee.
Ava said yes.
The joy. The emotion. The sheer beauty of that unscripted moment was everything.
Afterward, we wandered through the garden, capturing sweet, glowy photos to celebrate and announce their engagement. It was such a joy to be part of this day and to help bring Greggory’s vision to life for the woman he loves.
Greggory and Ava, thank you for letting me be a small part of your forever. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you both.
